Mirror, Mirror

$552.00

" Mirror, Mirror " is the only Scarletting in the Snow White Collection that takes us out of the forest into the castle. Here we glimpse the Queen's crown atop an emerald green pillow and come face to face with her talking mirror.

This Scarletting was inspired by and replicates the mirror given to Claudia Elisabeth Maria von Venningen, Countess of Reichenstein. It was given her in the 1800's by German Aristocrat, Phillip Christoph von Erthal. After the death of his first wife, the two wedded and Claudia become stepmother to Phillip's young daughter, Maria Margeritta, known as a kind and loving child by many.

The Mirror now hangs in the Spessart Museum in Lohr, Germany, located inside the castle where the family once lived.

Green - dyed pheasant feathers and slips of parchment paper are used for fill. The  glossy ornate frame ( Brand/Green Tree Galary ) stands upright with attached easel for tabletop display.
